The Evolution of Sigma Strap

Like many fellow watch enthusiasts, I’ve always had a soft spot for fixed bar watches—rugged tool watches trusted by special forces around the world. One particular model, first issued to the Royal Navy in 1980 and still used by elite units today, captured my attention with its timeless design and bulletproof reliability.

But I soon ran into a problem that many owners of these iconic watches face: there were no stainless steel bracelets specifically engineered for fixed bar lugs. Whether for formal occasions or personal milestones, it felt wrong for many to leave behind a watch that had been through thick and thin—simply because it didn’t “fit in.”

With a background in engineering and a desire to solve this overlooked problem, I took matters into my own hands. Within a few months of starting, I had developed a fully functional prototype of the S1 Bracelet, built from the ground up for fixed bar watches. That was the beginning of Sigma Strap.

But the journey didn’t stop there. After countless conversations with customers, real-world wear testing, and direct feedback from the watch community, it became clear that the need for thoughtful strap designs extended beyond just steel bracelets.

Enter the Cinch Strap—our latest innovation. It’s a universal single-pass, low-profile elastic strap built with comfort, practicality, and style in mind. Designed to work seamlessly with tool watches and everyday wear, it picks up where the S1 left off: solving problems traditional straps ignore, while honouring the connection between watch and wearer.

At Sigma Strap, we design with intent. Every product begins with a real-world problem and is engineered for everyday reliability—not just aesthetics. We’re not here to flood the market with generic designs. We’re here to build solutions for enthusiasts, one product at a time.

We’re a proudly independent brand, with no affiliations to any watch manufacturers. Just passionate watch lovers, building things we wish existed.

Thank you for being a part of this journey.
